SUBMISSION DEADLINE: FRIDAY 19 JUNE 2026

The NZIHE Annual Conference brings together engineers, clinicians, researchers, and health system leaders to advance the role of engineering in delivering safe, sustainable, and patient-centred healthcare across New Zealand and the Pacific.


We welcome presentation proposals from members and non-members working across all areas of healthcare engineering from facilities and infrastructure to medical devices, digital health, and biomedical technology.


Selected presenters will have the opportunity to share their work with a broad interdisciplinary audience and contribute to the growing body of knowledge supporting healthcare engineering

Presentation Types

Oral Presentation

This is a traditional presentation, which may be supported with audio visual aids. All oral presentations are allocated 15 or 30 minutes as part of the concurrent programme.

Quick Fire

A quick fire presentations is a fast paced concise and focused presentations designed to deliver key points within a short time limit (5 minutes).

Poster Presentation

Posters are especially effective for information that can be presented visually (e.g.: photos, charts, graphs, tables). If your abstract is accepted as a poster, you will need to develop the poster prior to the conference. Poster Guidelines will be provided at the time of abstract acceptance.

Workshop / Tutorial

Interactive skills based session.

Submission Guidelines

What We're Looking For

All proposals are reviewed by the Organising Committee, who will consider:

  • Whether your proposal is written in plain language, free of unnecessary jargon
  • The innovation, originality, or novel application of existing ideas that advances the field
Proposal Requirements
  • Maximum 300 words
  • Structured format: Background, Methods/Approach, Results/Outcomes, Conclusions
  • Clearly state relevance to healthcare engineering in New Zealand
Conditions of Submission
  • Late submissions will not be accepted.
  • The content of your presentation must align with the proposal originally submitted.
  • At least one author must present at the conference as a condition of acceptance.
  • Presenters must register to attend for at least one day of the conference and are responsible for their own travel, accommodation, and registration expenses. No speaker fee is paid.
  • It is the responsibility of the submitting author to ensure accuracy of all content, spelling, grammar, and formatting, as it will be published as submitted.
  • The Organising Committee may contact authors or their nominated referees as part of the review process.
  • By submitting a proposal you grant NZIHE permission to publish it in hard copy and/or electronic format, and the conference app and website.

•      Accepted proposals published in the conference programme online

•      NZIHE reserves the right to reassign the presentation type

Register or login in to the NZIHE conference portal.

Complete the submission form

Enter your presentation title, author details, preferred presentation type, and topic category. Paste your proposal text (max 300 words).

Submit & confirm

Review and click submit. A confirmation email will be sent to the presenting author.
